DESIGN ASSISTANT



OVERVIEW


Part-time remote role for a Design Assistant with interest in architecture, music and spatial design. 

This is a freelance role and is a key addition to a growing studio working within live shows, creative direction / stage design with a wide range of other spatial based projects. 

The role is primarily within the design team but also responsible for parts of project and studio admin. The ideal candidate is a highly organized and visually-minded individual, capable of balancing creative work with administrative responsibilities.

It is imperative the candidate has a DIY attitude, proficient in various forms of media relating to spatial design and has an understanding of design trends, interest in architecture, music, productions.

This position requires someone who can wear many hats — jumping between design tasks, research, organization, and hands-on problem-solving. Resourceful, adaptable, and eager to learn new skills independently, with a strong drive to take initiative and grow within the role.





RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Develop and edit concept images, 3D renders, and visual assets for live shows and set designs.

  • Assist with creating concept decks, moodboards, and presentations for clients and projects.

  • Creative research, source reference images, assist with idea development.

  • Support in filming, video editing, storyboarding, and scripting for various projects.

  • Assist with production-related tasks during shows, rehearsals, and site visits.

  • Assist Creative Director in maintaining smooth operations with communications and studio admin including: Liaising with external vendors, freelancers, and collaborators, scheduling Zoom calls, meetings and bookings, plus miscellaneous admin tasks.

  • Organize file management, maintain spreadsheets and documents.





SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE


Design / Software 

  • 3D Rendering and CAD is a must.

  • Strong ability to collect images and visual storytelling skills — able to create compelling decks and concept presentations.

  • Concept Image Making / Rendering Architecture. 

  • Understanding of live events, stage design, and basic understanding of production workflows.

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, InDesign) and/or other relevant design tools.

  • Video Editing: After Effects / Premiere

  • Google Suite



Communication, Time Management, Organization and Teamwork

  • DIY attitude ready to get hands on with show design elements such as creating or filming videos, model making and storyboarding. 

  • Strong communication and ability to multitask across different projects.

  • Willingness to study and learn.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.





BONUS CONSIDERATIONS

  • Previous experience in a studio, production company, or similar environment

  • Virtual Reality, New Media, Coding and Unreal Engine Experience

  • Drawing & Architectural model making

  • General sense of Photography / Documentation. Experience with digital photography, shooting and processing images.
